It is a standard test that is used by colleges to determine if they will accept the student into the college.
    2. What is the SAT?
The SAT is what the student is learning in school now (high school).
    3. What is the difference between the two?
The ACT is based off what the student have learned in school. The SAT is based off of reasoning and verbal abilities. The ACT has five different sections while the SAT only has three. The ACT doesn’t penalize the student if they don’t answer a question. The SAT does count the questions the student missed.
    4. How many sections are on the ACT? The SAT?
On the ACT there are five different sections .The SAT has 10 different sections.
    5. What is considered a good score on the ACT? What is considered a good score for the SAT?
A 23 and higher are consider good scores on the ACT test. An 1800 and higher are considering a good score on the SAT.

    6. How can/do you prep for the ACT? How can/do you prep for the SAT? (Provide at least one link to a test prep website for each test)
    • Hiring a tutor to test the student on information that is similar to the information on the test.
    • Students can attend classes that review over information that will be given on the test,
    • Kaplan, The Princeton Review, and Sylvan are good classes to attend for SAT and ACT preparation.
    • Barnes and Noble have books that have preparation information also.

    7. Do you prep for the ACT or SAT currently? Why or why not?
No I have not started. I plan on starting the beginning of October since I know a couple of students who plan to do it in December. While working with these kids I can build an extended study group.
    8. Why is it important to do well on the ACT or SAT?
Both are very important to do well on. Colleges will be looking at both scores. Each score can help balance your grades.
    9. What colleges do you plan on applying to? What are the SAT or ACT requirements for that school?
I only have one college in mind because I refuse to go away from home. UNCW is the school that I will apply for. Anywhere between 1670-1870 is what is expected for the SAT scores (include all section grade). Anywhere between a 22-28 is expected for the ACT scores. I would also have to take the writing portion of the ACT.
    10. How much does it cost to take the ACT? The SAT?
The SAT cost a total of $84.50 dollars. The basic ACT is $35.00. When adding the writing the price goes up to $50.50.

  2. 1. The ACT is a standardized test that is used as a college entrance exam. It is scored compositely with a total score of 1 -36.
    2. The SAT is also a standardized test used for college entrance. Your score will fall between 600 – 2400.
    3. The two tests are both accepted by all colleges, but they are set up a bit differently. The SAT is broken into sections lasting about 25 minutes each, while the ACT is compiled into a large chunk. The SAT is more focused on vocabulary, whereas the ACT has more high-level math and basic science.
    4. The ACT has 4 sections. The SAT has 10 sections.
    5. A good score on the ACT would be from about 25 – 36. For the SAT, a good score would range from around 1800 – 2400.
    6. You can prepare for the ACT by taking practice tests, looking at previous test booklets, get a tutor, or use an online help-site like http://www.barronstestprep.com/act/. Preparing for the SAT is done the same way (practice tests, tutors from Sylvan or a similar place). http://barronstestprep.com/sat/ also has SAT prep.
    7. No, I don’t prepare for the SAT/ACT. In previous years of schooling, we were not taught how to study for SAT/ACT.
    8. It’s important to do well on the SAT or ACT because your score will help determine what colleges you get accepted to.
    9. The ACT requirement for NCSU is about 24, and the SAT requirement is around 1200. UNCW’s scores were about the same.
    10. The basic ACT costs $35, but $50.50 with the added writing test. The SAT costs $50 (unless you wait until the last minute to sign up – then it costs $77).
    11. The SAT is offered 7 times each year: January, March/April, May, June, October, November, and December. The ACT is offered 6 times a year: February, April, June, September, October, and December.
    12. You can register for both the ACT and SAT online or by mail. Online is quicker and easier, but if you are younger than 13 or can’t pay by credit card, you must register by mail.

  6. The ACT stands for "American College Testing" and is designed to be something colleges look at before they accept you.
The SAT stands for "Scholastic Aptitude Test" and is designed to test how ready you are for college academically.
The SAT is tricky and based on reasoning skills, the ACT is based on content and has more straight forward questions.
There are 5 sections on the ACT and 3 sections on the SAT.
A good score on the ACT is a 32, a good score on the SAT is more than 2,100.

I do not currently study for the tests because I have other work to do currently.
It is important to do well on the SAT or ACT because colleges look at them to see if they will accept you.

The cost varies based on when you take it, usually the SAT costs $50 and the ACT costs $50.

You can register for ether of them online, on the phone or in the mail.
